Can I Apply Online Without Visiting a Passport Office?

The answer depends on where you are applying from:

Inside Pakistan

No — not fully online. You can pre-fill forms and pay fees online, but you must visit a passport office for biometric verification (photo, fingerprints, digital signature). The biometric capture is mandatory and can only be done at DGIP equipment located in passport offices.

In short: You must visit a Regional Passport Office (RPO) at least once.

Outside Pakistan (Overseas Pakistanis)

Yes — you can complete renewal fully online. The Online Passport Renewal System allows overseas Pakistanis to renew expired passports, pay fees online, upload documents and receive the e-Passport by courier without visiting any office.

Note: This online service is mainly for renewals — not first-time passport applicants — and your CNIC/NICOP must be valid.

Important Notes & Tips

Future of e-Passports in Pakistan

The government is rolling out e-gates at major airports (Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore) and continuing to digitize passport services to improve security and speed at immigration counters.
